Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Locate and develop sources of supply for materials and interview prospective suppliers
  • Determine lead time, current market conditions, price, and technical capabilities
  • Analyze quotations and pricing
  • Evaluate new supplier performance and information
  • Approve requisitions
  • Monitor invoicing for variances and suppliers for performance
  • Survey supplier facilities
  • Research and develop cost reductions
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to ensure achievement of section, department, or company plan


Skills & Abilities Required

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external contacts
  • Ability to create effective memos and letters
  • Capable of analyzing quotations, developing budgets, and understanding cost impact
  • Ability to comprehend technical and business correspondence
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and blueprints
  • Strong computer skills and ability to create graphs, spreadsheets, and charts


Minimum Level of Preparation & Training Required

  • A High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • A Bachelor's degree or related work experience is preferred.
